August 4, 2020 Primary Election Safety Measures
For the health and safety of all Cape Girardeau County voters, election workers and staff, the Cape Girardeau County Clerk’s Office is following the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center Order No. 20-02 and CDC guidelines for polling locations and voters and has taken the following safety measures while ensuring no eligible Cape Girardeau County voter will be refused the right to vote:
- Each polling place will have protective health shields at each voter check-in table to act as a barrier between voters and election workers.
- We ask voters to maintain 6 feet of distance from others when possible.
- If you are sick or have tested positive for COVID-19, please contact the County Clerk’s Office (573)243-3547 so we can offer alternative voting options such as curbside voting.
- Hand sanitizer is available for election workers and voters. Disinfecting wipes will be used frequently to sanitize equipment and other hard surfaces.
- Sterilized 2-in-1 stylus/ink pen will be used for Poll Pad voter check-in and used to mark your ballot. (voters can bring their own stylus and black ink pen)
- Floor markers will be used to ensure proper social distancing.
- Polls are open from 6 AM to 7 PM on Election Day, August 4. You can view a sample ballot at your polling place, at capecountyelections.com or contact the office (573)243-3547.
