There are many options available for voters who need assistance casting their ballot on Election Day.
Central Polling Location
Two accessible central polling locations have been designated at:
- County Administration Building, 1 Barton Square, Jackson, MO 63755
- Cape Girardeau Satellite Office, 2311 Bloomfield Rd., Suite 102, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701
The central polling locations are open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. If you have limited mobility or unable to access your polling location on Election Day, you may vote your ballot at the Central Poll. Curbside voting is available at the Central Poll.
Curbside Voting
If you have limited mobility you may be able to vote âcurbsideâ or outside the polling place. You should go to your polling place and ask your driver to go into the poll with your identification and notify the Election Judges of a curbside voter. A team of bipartisan Election Judges will bring your ballot to the car along with a secrecy sleeve for privacy.
Accessible Voting Systems
At all federal elections, each polling place will have an accessible voting system for individuals with disabilities including audiovisual accessibility. Accessible systems include an audio ballot to make selections or the ability to enlarge text so that you can read the on-screen ballot with ease.
Permanent Disabled Absentee Voting List
If you have a permanent physical disability you may request to be placed on a designated list so an absentee ballot request form will be mailed to you automatically prior to each election. For more information, visit the absentee voting information webpage.
Personal Assistance
If you cannot read or write, are blind or have another physical disability and cannot vote your ballot alone, you may choose to bring an assistant to the polls to assist you in voting your ballot. Your assistant does not have to be over the age of 18 or have to be a registered voter. Additionally, a bipartisan team of poll workers can assist you upon request.
Tools Available at Each Polling Location
Each polling location is equipped with a magnifying sheet and magnifying globe to assist voters with visual impairments.
If you need assistance on Election Day, ask the poll workers at your polling location. You may also call the County Clerkâs Office at (573)243-3547.
