Marybeth grew up in rural Cape Girardeau County, where she learned a deep appreciation for the county’s history and natural beauty. She holds a master’s degree in professional writing from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, and earned several statewide awards for her reporting on both the county’s history and current events for the Southeast Missourian newspaper.
