About the Cape County Board for Developmental Disabilities
Cape County Board for Developmental Disabilities is a nine-person board appointed by the County Commission. In a Special Election held April 1, 1975, Cape Girardeau County voted to establish (and) (or) maintain a sheltered workshop and residence facility for handicapped persons, and to levy a tax not to exceed ten cents per each one hundred dollars assessed valuation, therefore. The administrative control and management of the facility shall rest solely with the board, and the board shall employ all necessary personnel, fix their compensation, and provide suitable quarters and equipment for the operation of the facility from funds made available for this purpose, as per statutes 205.968 through 205.973.
