Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office
Traffic Ticket Policies
- Speed kills, as shown by the damage to these cars in this fatality
- case prosecuted by our office
Our speeding policies are designed to alter dangerous driving habits and to effectively punish dangerous drivers and remove them from the roadways. Officers in Cape Girardeau County issue approximately 5,000 speeding tickets per year. Most can be paid through the mail.
On March 1, 2000, the Associate Circuit Court of Cape Girardeau County began participating in the Fine Collection Center run by the Office of State Court Administrator. Under this program, most traffic tickets written in Cape Girardeau County may be paid by mail to Jefferson City, rather than by having the drivers appear in court.
If you have a speeding ticket and are confused about whether you can pay by mail or need to appear in court, you should call the Fine Collection Center at their Toll Free number (877)-866-3926 or the Cape Girardeau County Associate Circuit Court at (573) 243-8446.
