Motor Vehicle Lemon Law
Many people call the prosecutor’s office with questions about Missouri’s Motor Vehicle Lemon Law.
This law protects purchasers of new motor vehicles by enforcing the manufacturer’s expressed warranties, thereby protecting someone who has bought a "lemon."
Since the dispute between the purchaser and seller of the motor vehicle is a civil matter, rather than a criminal matter, the prosecutor’s office is not allowed to represent either side in the matter and will not get involved in the quarrel. If a person who has bought a lemon cannot get the matter resolved satisfactorily by discussions with the car dealership, a private attorney should be consulted.
