Parks Department FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Cape County Parks
Q. Are picnic shelters available and what is the cost?
A. There are six shelters in the North Park, four shelters in South Park and two shelters in Klaus Park. There is no cost to use these shelters, however there is a non-refundable fee to reserve a shelter for a specific date and time.
Q. How can I reserve picnic shelters?
A. Shelters can be reserved online by visiting http://www.capecountyparks.us. You may also reserve a shelter by calling the Cape Girardeau County Offices at (573)204-2494 between 8-4, Monday through Friday.
Q. Is fishing available and who may fish?
A. Two lakes may be fished by anyone with a current Missouri Fishing License.  A third lake is available for ages 15 and under only, and does not require a license for those ages to fish.

An inspirational avenue of over 450 flags fly on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day at the entrance to North Park. Each flag bears the name of a Cape County veteran.
